How to Hide Farmville (and other Annoying Games) from Your Facebook News Feed

This should make Facebook a little more bearable for people who use it for business.

I just got back on Facebook. It was a tough decision. What helped make it tolerable to go back to Facebook was my discovery that I could hide posts related to Farmville, Mafia Wars, and other time-sucking games I really couldn’t care less about.

It’s easy:

  1. In your News Feed window, when you see a post about a game you don’t care about, point to it. A Hide button appears.
    Hide Button
  2. Click Hide.
  3. The item disappears and is replaced with a series of buttons like the ones shown here. Click the button to hide the game.
    Click Hide
  4. A note like the one shown here appears. Ignore it and it will go away.
    It's Gone

From that point on, you won’t get any posts related to that game.

  1. Thank you! I realllllly appreciate this info. I understand that Farmville and other games are fun and I have a few of my own favorites on my cell phone – tho nowadays it’s mostly the ones that make for fun activities for grandparents and their grandchildren – like my grandkids’ favorites, Labyrinth and Tic Tac Toe. BUT since I don’t play Farmville, it does get a bit frustrating when there are several posts about it. This will be a delightful help. Thanks again!

  2. Seriously, apps are the most annoying part of Facebook. My sister is really in to them, and the app people have even gone as far (so I hear) to make playing other games integral to leveling up in others. Gaming pyramid scheme????

  3. Hi people, how are you???
Question: Is there a way to hide game publications to other people (friends, family, coworkers, etc) that I have as “Friends”?

As far as I know, you can hide it from News feed, but if someone of family or frieds, goes to my wall then they can see all my gaming activity.
    Any advice?

Thank you for you time… Gaston.-
