I have BTMM problems which neither Apple (help) or Genius bar have been abel to solve. It is difficult to test as you say unless you find another network. I have tried with two routers but am not sure if I am just networking as on a local basis or using BTMM.

I appreciate this is not forum but from what the people at the Genius bar told me these problems are legend thought you may like to no you are not alone.

Interesting! I'm too cheap to buy .Mac, but I've been looking at a few alternatives including Not Mac and modifying iChat.

A NAT router IS a firewall, since network address translation ignores any incoming packets that haven't been requested by you (or someone using a machine in your private network).

I don't know what specialized firewall hardware adds to NAT.

Keep in mind that if there's a Firewall protecting the computer you want to "go back" to, it might not work. That didn't affect me, so I didn't research it. Hope it doesn't affect you. Good luck!
