Thank you for the note on MacBook Pro update but — as usual — the Apple pages bring both grief and frustration.

My MacBook Pro says I don’t need any updates when an inquiry is put. Apple needs some mature writers for their support pages. They also need to deploy help in user manuals, etc.
Maria Langer makes those of us who have seen both discard David Pogue’s feeble efforts on Mac OS X . Bless her good heart and head.

Bill, thank you so much for your very kind words. You have no idea how much they mean to me.

Sorry you’re having such frustration. If Software Update doesn’t tell you you need an update, then you probably don’t, so don’t worry about it. Software update is pretty smart and will only allow you to download the updates you really need.

    Maria,
MacBook Pro 17in DID need the software upgrade 1.1. I carefully checked the lengthy list of other offerings by Apple/Support. The others seem to have been taken care of in the upgrade to Leopard.
Seems to me that Apple should put that information on the page with EACH offered software or firmware upgrade.

Thank you for your good help.
