Maria Speaks Episode 21: Yes! You Can Use Your GPS with Your Mac! (ENHANCED PODCAST.)

I originally wrote this article for Informit.com and it just recently appeared on Informit’s Web site. If you’re not familiar with Informit.com, you should be. They’re a great source of free information about using computers. You can visit their Web site at www.informit.com.

The article and this podcast explains how you can use some free and inexpensive software tools to exchange information between your Macintosh and your GPS. The article is heavily illustrated, which is one of the reasons this is an enhanced podcast. But if the pictures you see in iTunes or your video-capable iPod are too tiny to make out, you can find them with the article’s transcript on the Informit.com Web site.

Maria Speaks Episode 19: Maria’s October Widget Watch. (ENHANCED PODCAST.)

In June, I did an article for Informit.com which included capsule reviews of widgets I liked that were released during the month of May. While Informit was really excited about the piece, they sure took their time about publishing it. It wasn’t released until mid-July. By that time, some of the widgets had been revised or disappeared. I’ve decided to take matters firmly into my own hands by releasing my monthly widget watch as an enhanced podcast, with illustrated transcript on the companion Web site for my Mac OS X books. This is the first of those podcasts.

Maria Speaks Episode 15: Setting Up Macintosh and Windows File Sharing. (ENHANCED PODCAST.)

This episode is another podcast of one of the articles I wrote for the Informit.com Web site. Informit is a great source of free articles and other information about computer topics. It’s also where you can buy books by Pearson Education authors like me at a discount. Visit the Informit Web site at www.informit.com. Or link to my Informit articles by visiting the Articles page on my web site, www.marialanger.com.

This article explains why and how to set up file sharing between a Macintosh and Windows computer. It covers file sharing in both directions — from Mac to PC and from PC to Mac. If you’re in a mixed platform, networked environment, keep listening to learn how to effortlessly share files between platforms.

This is an enhanced podcast. To take advantage of all features, view with iTunes 6.0 or later or on a video-capable iPod.
